Morrisana Revitalization Corporation, Inc.

Our mission

History & Mission The Morrisania Revitalization Corporation (MRC) was incorporated in 1981 as a not- for-profit community housing development corporation. For over 25 years, MRC has been carrying out community development activities, including the creation and improvement of housing opportunities in the Morrisania community. Our goal is to the full fill this mission; MRC continues to provide housing development, property management and building maintenance, social service support, education, job training and food services. Since 1981, MRC has been funded by the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) to operate as a Neighbourhood Preservation Company (NPC). MRC has provided housing relocation, entitlement assistance, and served as a catalyst for community and tenant associations as well as providing support for Economic development activities. MRC’s primary aim is to empower those in need by providing affordable housing, home ownership, economic opportunities, educational and supportive services. Through MRC, the Martin Luther King Center for Non-Violence, the MRC Food Pantry, and the Harriet Tubman Charter School MRC provide a wide array of programs and services. These programs improve the quality of life for the homeless and low to moderate income families and individuals in New York County, particularly in the Morrisania section of the South Bronx, one of the most disadvantaged and underserved communities in the city.
